40 weeks pregnant, pain down below

Q. I am 40 weeks pregnant with my second child and as of last night I feel very tender down below. It hurts to walk even though I am still able to walk pushing through the pain. I had a elective c section with my first child as he was breech but am hoping for a vbac this time.My midwife advised me 2 weeks ago that the baby is head down and could come at any time but am now concerned with this tenderness.

A. If the pain runs along your scar then you need to seek advice from your labour ward. If its in the pelvis/vaginal area then this can be very common at full term and is probably the babies head beginning to descend down inpreparation for birth. There are many nerves in that area that can cause all sorts of pains when you have a baby lying across them.
